I discovered my love for drawing and painting by accident, and it changed my life. I remember using watercolors as a little girl and being mesmerized by the magic of the brushes and the colors mixing on the page. I began painting while recovering from surgery, and what began as a way to pass the time soon became a passion. Being in contact with nature fills me with happiness that I want to share with the world. I need a daily dose of art to be happy.

I love to paint and capture light in all its manifestations on a canvas. To evoke emotions by the way a deep glaze of color produces light and shadows across my work. I focus on scenes from nature, particularly those that have a more personal connection to me. I enjoy the challenge of installing a sense of serenity or mood in a piece, and then sharing it with the viewer. Painting is a form of sharing myself with others.

I use many media including aerosol, acrylic and ink. The colors I select capture movement and the fluid energy that revolves around us all. Recently I’ve been painting a character called head full of ghosts based on the medieval medical procedure of drilling a hole in one’s head to release the spirits within – a technique to improve one’s mental health and cure abnormal behavior.

Artist Statement:
I paint as a hobby for the sheer enjoyment of it. My approach is to represent the subjects I see, but not with camera-like precision. Instead, I try to capture the feel of the place, paying attention to composition, colors (both warm and cool) and light and shadows.
These oil paintings were inspired by my visit to Point Lobos in Carmel, California. I love the rock formations – their colors and coarse textures, and the contrast between the softer feel of the trees and ocean. My hope is that these paintings reveal something of the beauty of that location.

Christina Bauer conveys the struggle of a heavy interior dialogue using the medium of photography. When Chris seizes on a thought, she uses her camera to capture emotion and release its energy into the world for others to see.
Artist Statement:
Writer, photographer, over thinker and day dreamer. I ascribe to all these things. As the child of deaf parents, my existence was based in silent communication. I found comfort inside of the habitat of silence; a safe space within my mind to play, find thoughts, let some go, and keep some captive to form my own creative language.
In early adulthood I found a passion in the medium of photography and later combined that with my writing. The inner workings of my mind are like a damp and dark cocoon. Inside this space, squirming and struggling, are my thoughts. They grow in that comfortable and silent room within. When visiting this playground of mental grey space and its soundless visuals I desire to have these images resonate loudly within the inner workings of my viewers.

In early 2020, I discovered a fiery passion for painting in a pop art style. Painting taught me how to feel comfortable “taking up space” in life as my paintings became bolder, brighter and larger, commanding attention of the eye even from a distance – so different from the more passive and fearful ways of being I had become accustomed to for most of my life as a classic people pleaser. Now, when I see my art come to fruition, I am reminded of a quiet warrior within, always there to support me through any challenge I encounter.

Artist Statement:
Initially, I thought about how fences could be understood as measurement devices. Certain materials and the surrounding environment can be instruments in observing change. Upon photographing fences throughout the inland Empire, I discovered that some had a very sculptural presence in the environment or took on the look and feel of collage. I began to see them as inadvertent works of art. It became interesting to think about the choices in material – the oddments, the activity, the property and the overall surroundings. How did it all come together? How might these spaces change over time?
Artist Biography:
I sell my works in Palm Springs galleries and artisan fairs.

I have been working with clay for over ten years and almost everything is an inspiration. I always make something worthy of the effort. To me, failure is a crucial foundation for success. Work with clay, be patient and success will come.

Artist Statement:
My artwork is a consideration of various places I have discovered in this world we live in. My work has taken different forms and expressions, but always triggers a meaningful and captivating appearance of what my feelings convey to the onlooker. Clear and precise; tedious strokes continue to seize attention. My inspiration from brush to paper is unspoken smiles on onlookers faces. I attempt to create action speaking within the beauty and calmness of a subject. Bright color splash emotions of enthusiasm and the eagerness of the moment capturing a mood and breathe life into the image.

Artist Statement:
I am drawn to sculptural forms that combine organic elements with human culture and experience to invoke thought and emotion. Much of my work is abstract sculptural representation on the theme of technology and social media which has drastically changed society and how we as members of a community interact with each other. The alter ego to this body of work are forms inspired by our natural environment that represent feeling, emotion, or experience while outdoors and unencumbered by daily stresses.
